Peonies, and lots of them! We grow multiple varieties, each with its own colour, shape, and personality.

Here is a brief description of what we currently offer in our fields:

• Sarah Bernhardt – A timeless soft-pink double bloom and one of the most beloved peonies for cutting and gardens.

• Festiva Maxima– Elegant white petals with crimson flecks and a strong fragrance.

• Bowl of Beauty – Bright pink outer petals framing a golden-yellow center — a striking showstopper.

• Coral Charm – Semi-double coral blooms that age through apricot and peach tones.

• Duchesse de Nemours – A classic pure white with a gentle fragrance.

• Karl Rosenfield – Deep crimson double blooms popular in borders and bouquets.

• Kansas – One of the most classic bright hot-pink peonies with full double blooms.

Peony season is a very short one!

The start of the season is always weather-dependent, but here in the lower mainland of BC, our peonies typically begin blooming toward the very end of May and last until mid to late June.

For 2026, our stand will offer the following:

5-stem unwrapped bunches for $12/each.

12-stem bouquets wrapped in Kraft paper for $30/each.

We offer assorted fresh-cut peonies in both 5-stem bunches and 12-stem bouquets.

The peony assortment at the stand is all based on what we harvest in the field the day before! Sometimes the bouquets are all 1 colour, other times they are mixed-colour bouquets. We do our best to have a good variety available at all times.

Yes! We are happy to let you come for grad photos, engagement photos, photos with your dog, just because photos, - whatever! We charge $70/hour to book the field.

We are located in beautiful South Langley, just down the street from several wineries including Chapter Estates and Domaine Chaberton.

We live on a quiet, residential street in the country. The closer you get to our farm, you will begin to see signs pointing to our location.

When you arrive, you can park on the street and walk up to our stand to select your bouquet(s). There is a cash box on site for you to leave cash OR you can e-transfer to hello@homesteadfarmslangley.com

If you forget any of this, don’t worry! We have it all clearly written out on our stand.

*We also recommend bringing a vase or bucket to keep your flowers hydrated on your drive home. We do not have extra buckets, vases, or water on site.

You have your peony roots… now what? Here are a few simple steps for planting:

1. Plant in the fall before the first freeze. October tends to be the sweet spot for this in BC.

2. Choose a sunny, well-drained spot with good soil (peonies are not fussy but they don’t love being moved around a lot, so pick your spot wisely).

3. Dig a hole 12-18 inches wide (wider if you bought an XL root).

4. Set the root cluster into the hole with the fleshy, carrot-like roots pointing downwards or at a slight angle, and the eyes (the pink or white growth buds) facing upward toward the sky.

5. Cover with enough soil so the eyes rest about 1 - 2 inches below the surface level. (Planting too deeply is the #1 reason peonies fail to bloom).

6. Water!

A few other tips:

• If you are planting multiple peony roots, space them approximately 3-4 feet apart. They need good airflow in between them.

• Be patient! Young peonies take time to develop. It will likely take a few years for them to start blooming in abundance - but they are so worth the wait!
